Melissa is a Native to San Diego and embraces the diversity that makes San Diego the special place it is.
While in elementary school, she learned about the Kavadi ceremony. For her personal knowledge, she later studied its deep roots to Shiva and into its connections to the limbs of Bhakti-Hatha-Raja Yogas. Melissa continues to teach as a certified 600- hr Comprehensive Pilates for large groups classes and private instruction. She is RYT 200hr certified and is working on completing her RYT 500hr training, while dealing with her own bodies limitations. Melissa has psoriatic arthritis, she credits her yoga practice and Pilates for the mobility, pain relief and the sanity that it has provided her body.
During Covid-19 Lockdown many friends and clients reached out to her to do continue private classes or just to have be able to get out of their homes to play with the goats on the farm. They wanted to drive up to Ramona, San Diego's Countryside to be outdoors. The farm is about 15min north of Poway close but far enough for so many that wanted to experience nature. Melissa had other friends offered to pull weeds and just be able to be outdoors. She thought why not blend the two and offer San Diego Goat Yoga. It is not a new concept but Melissa knew its value and the importance it had during this time. Esmeralda (Melissa's daughter) and herself are both instructors and they had goats, why not they worked together along her husband and son to create a place that did just that. They love the joy that it is bringing those who have come and will continue to offer Goat Yoga. It's a way to offer a unique farm experience.
Her passions include: creating a happy place for all the farm animals, including her horse Pegasus, soap making and plants. Creating a beautiful farm so others may have a chance to visit and have their own farm experience.
Esmeralda started dancing classical ballet at the age of four. She became fascinated by Yoga as she would practice with her Mother and brother daily before bed. Esmeralda dedicated herself to her Yoga practice daily. In 2012 she became a certified Pilates Instructors. In 2014 she completed her RYT200 training with Prana Yoga under the directions of Gerhard Gessner. She has spent the last three years mentoring and leading portions of Pilates teacher training programs.
Her hobbies include Rock climbing and Plants.
